Reaching Bali

Thousands of tourists from across the world visit Bali every year making the island one of the most popular tourist destinations in this part of the world. Are you planning to visit Bali too? You can do so in one of these 3 ways…

By Plane
There are direct flights to the Denpasar's Ngurah Rai international airport at Bali from most big cities in Australia and Asia . And of course there are direct flights from cities in Indonesia like Makassar, Surabaya and Jakarta.

There are quite a few low-cost airlines that fly to Bali . Here are some of them.

From Singapore you can take the Jetstar Asia.

  • From Jakarta , Kuala Lumpur , Kota Kinabalu and Kuching there is AirAsia.
  • Fly from Taipei and Hong Kong on the Mandala Airlines.
  • There are daily flights from Kuala Lumpur by Malaysia Airlines.

Please remember that when you are flying into Bali , you will need to pay Entry Visa and while flying out, airport tax needs to be paid. Its best to keep the dollars handy because not all currencies are accepted.

There are many hotels that provide free transfers from and to the airport for their guests. But there's nothing really to worry about if your hotel is not allowing that. There are taxis that will transfer you happily.

By Bus
Bali is an island – so how do you get here by bus? The fact is, you can do so from Java and Lombok . Just hop on to a bus and when it reaches the shore, it will get on a ferry. Though the journey is interesting, but the bus ride itself may be slow.

By Boat
The ferry service is extremely regular – in fact, it runs round the clock. A boat leaves Ketapang in Java every 15 minutes and it reaches the western shores of Bali at Gilimanuk. The journey itself will take you just half an hour. There is also a ferry service from Lembar that reaches Padang Bai. However this is a longer trip that takes around 3 hours and 30 minutes.

If you are in Australia and want to visit Bali , you would be able to do this easily since a ferry service is scheduled to start at the end of 2008. Timor Ferry service is the company that will operate this service.
