There are countless big and small restaurants and cafes in Bali . While many of them serve traditional Balinese cuisine, plenty others are multi-cuisine including international foods. Catering to the international tourist even global chains such as Pizza Hut, McDonald's and KFC have opened up in Bali.

However the foreign tourist needs to take note that the menu has been customized – and so what you might find in Sydney or Los Angeles will not be on the menu here.

However there are many smaller food joints that serve equally good food, and that too at a much lower price. The local foods you must try out are nasi goreng (which is a kind of fried rice) and mie goreng (a type of fried noodles). Most of these dishes come with either with chicken or shrimp. So what you take them with will decide their price. Another dish you should try is the bakso, which is basically a noodle coup and meatball. However be warned that Indonesian dishes can be quite hot.

While in Bali you will come across vendors who keep moving in a kind of vehicle – they are known as kaki lima . This actually means five legs (the cart has three legs and the vendor two). Try them because some of these vendors serve amazing food.
